According to statistics from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, up to now, there have been 370 established industrial zones nationwide (including 328 industrial zones outside economic zones, 34 industrial zones located in coastal economic zones, 8 Industrial parks are located in border gate economic zones) in 61/63 provinces and centrally run cities. Investment capital of projects in industrial parks and economic zones reached about 27.7% of total social investment capital in the period 2016 – 2019. In the period 2016-2019, industrial parks and economic zones paid the State Bank State budget is over 400 trillion VND.

Industrial parks have also created jobs for more than 3.8 million direct workers, accounting for about 7% of the country’s workforce.

In some localities, the rate of state budget revenue in industrial parks and economic zones accounts for over 60% of the total state budget revenue of the locality such as: Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Hai Phong…

 

For example, in Bac Ninh, there are currently 10/16 concentrated industrial parks in operation. Bac Ninh industrial parks have employed 331,604 workers. In Bac Giang, there are currently 6 industrial parks, employing about 133,000 workers. Export value in the first 9 months of 2020 reached about 5.1 billion USD (equivalent to the same period in 2019); Import value reached about 4.75 billion USD (down 0.25 billion USD compared to the same period in 2019).

Or like Hanoi, there are 9/17 industrial parks, export processing zones and high-tech zones that have been put into operation. The total number of workers working in industrial and export processing zones in Hanoi is 161,896 people. Industrial parks and export processing zones have created about 50% of the value of industrial output, 45% of export turnover and over 20% of the City’s GDP, contributing to a strong shift in the City’s economic structure towards increasing the economic ratio. industry and services.

In Binh Duong, to date there have been 29/31 industrial parks in operation. Industrial parks have created jobs for 472,461 workers in enterprises, of which 87% are workers from outside the province. Every year, businesses in the industrial park achieve revenue of about 32.5 billion USD and contribute about 719 million USD to the state budget.

Notably, most FDI projects are located in industrial parks and economic zones, produce many products with high export value and are part of the global supply chain. According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, in recent years, the contribution proportion of FDI in total export turnover has been increasing. In 2020, the FDI sector contributed 202.89 billion USD to the country’s total export turnover, accounting for 71.7%.

Pointing this out is to see that without proper awareness and subjective negligence, especially in provinces that have not yet had an epidemic and take drastic, timely and effective measures, the risk of Covid-19 infection is very high. large, extremely serious impact on the economy.

The Government’s biggest goal today is to ensure the lives of all citizens and people working and living in Vietnam; At the same time, we must still ensure the dual goal of both fighting the epidemic and producing and consuming goods, without disrupting the supply.

In the conclusion announcement of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the national online meeting on COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control, in addition to the tasks of ministries, branches and localities, it was also clearly stated: Managing industrial parks, economic zones, and export processing zones, businesses must focus on protecting the health of workers and employees; ensure harmony of interests between workers, businesses, and the state and share common difficulties. Trade unions at all levels proactively participate more actively in epidemic prevention and control, both promoting production and protecting the legal rights and interests of workers and employees; In industrial parks, economic zones, factories, economic and social organizations… that have sufficient conditions, they can research and carry out centralized on-site quarantine in accordance with regulations to prevent fighting the epidemic while ensuring harmonious, reasonable and effective socio-economic development

Together with the Government, ministries, especially the Ministry of Health and Industry and Trade, have given specific directions and instructions to prevent epidemics in general and in industrial parks, economic zones and factories in particular.

But most of all, at this time, we need a sense of responsibility from managers, businesses and the awareness of every citizen, every worker, and every employee currently working in industrial parks, economic zones, and factories across the world. country. In addition, businesses also need to join hands and proactively protect workers and employees by seriously following the 5K principle and proactively vaccinating. Only then will we be able to successfully control the 4th epidemic and achieve the dual goals set by the Government.
