Recently, Bac Giang province issued a plan to support businesses, creating a “green” channel to allow workers in epidemic-safe localities in the province to return to work. Workers can move from the factory to the locality. “On June 28, Bac Giang province began implementing this policy. Just 3 days later, the number of workers returning to work increased to 18,000 people,” Mr. Ngoc said.
Mr. Ngoc confirmed that many large businesses in the global supply chain for Apple and Samsung continue to increase operating capacity. Foxconn Group currently employs more than 6,000 workers (before the outbreak, it employed more than 30,000 workers), Luxshare – ICT Company welcomes about 7,000 workers (before the outbreak, it had more than 22,000 workers). Manufacturing companies for Samsung Group are all back in business working.
Currently, many businesses are building plans to welcome workers from foreign provinces to work in Bac Giang. The Bac Giang Provincial Industrial Park Management Board agreed to let more than 20 businesses welcome about 3,000 workers, mainly in Bac Ninh and Lang Son provinces. For workers from foreign provinces, businesses arrange accommodation in the factory or rent boarding houses or hotels for workers.
“With the epidemic situation under control and gradually returning to normal, businesses are starting to bustle with production again. In the coming time, about 2,000 – 3,000 workers will return to work every day. By the end of July, the total number of workers returning to work was about 60,000, reaching more than 45% of the number of workers before the outbreak,” Mr. Ngoc said.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Long – Deputy Head of the Management Board of Industrial Parks in Bac Ninh province, informed that more than 900 businesses are operating in industrial parks, with more than 255,000 workers. Before the outbreak, there were more than 1,100 businesses in industrial parks, with more than 330,000 workers. Currently, the working groups of the Bac Ninh Provincial Industrial Park Management Board continue to guide and support businesses to return to production. “Industrial parks in Bac Ninh province did not have to stop operating even though the epidemic broke out again, so orders from many businesses increased,” Mr. Long said.
According to Mr. Long, in recent times, large corporations such as Samsung and Canon have still maintained production. In the coming time, Bac Ninh province will continue to support so that the number of businesses in industrial parks operating is nearly equal to before the outbreak. At the same time, Bac Ninh province implemented the construction of new industrial parks and issued investment certificates for projects over 200 million USD.
